ChainSight ("we", "our", or "us") operates the ChainSight browser extension and API. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

ChainSight collects no personal data. Specifically:

• We do not collect names, emails, or any personally identifiable information.
• We do not track browsing history or web activity.
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not use analytics or tracking cookies.

Local Data Storage

The ChainSight extension stores data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. This includes:

• Your preferred settings (default blockchain, whale alert threshold, number of coins to display)
• Your portfolio entries (coin IDs and quantities you choose to track)
• The last seen whale transaction hash (to avoid duplicate notifications)

This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party.

API Requests

The extension makes requests to the ChainSight API (chainsight-api.onrender.com) to fetch publicly available cryptocurrency market data, including:

• Coin prices and market data from CoinGecko
• Whale transaction data from Etherscan, Blockstream, and Solscan public APIs
• News from public RSS feeds
• Fear & Greed Index from Alternative.me

These requests contain no personal identifiers. We have no way to associate API requests with individual users.

Notifications

The extension may display desktop notifications for whale transaction alerts. These are triggered entirely on your device based on publicly available blockchain data. We do not send push notifications from our servers.

Third-Party Services

The extension fetches data from the following public APIs:

• CoinGecko (cryptocurrency prices)
• Etherscan / Blockstream / Solscan (blockchain transaction data)
• Alternative.me (Fear & Greed Index)
• RSS feeds from CoinTelegraph, CryptoNews, Bitcoin Magazine (news)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising, credit scoring, or any purpose other than providing the functionality described above.

Children's Privacy

ChainSight is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
